Cylinder designs can include all of the standard winding patterns such as circumferential (hoop), helical, transitional as well as custom defined layers and programs. It is also possible to create winding programs for either standard axis-symmetric geometries like tubes, vessels and cones, or complex non-axis symmetric geometries.
Final designs can be exported to any Finite Element Analysis (FEA) program so that its mechanical properties can be analyzed before exporting the design to the filament winding machine.

Winding ExpertTM is Mikrosam’s in-house developed software solution for creating, editing and simulating filament winding programs. It is user friendly software which allows the composite designer flexibility to create winding programs that will completely fulfill the product requirements. It has the possibility for circumferential (hoop), helical, transitional and other custom defined winding layers and programs. Features for winding path simulation and winding pattern simulation provide the designer with powerful tool for easy and precise creation of the composite parts using filament winding technology.
Winding Expert has a module for export of all necessary data to any Finite Element Analysis (FEA) program, which is necessary for the calculation and analysis of the mechanical properties of the filament winded products.
In Winding Expert there is possibility to create winding programs either for standard axis-symmetric geometries like tubes, vessels and cones, or to import CAD mandrel data from any popular CAD program for complex non-axis symmetric geometries.

Vessel Tank Design Software for Filament Winding
Unlike ASME metal pressure-vessel calculation tools, Mikrosam's software is built specifically for composite vessels: it designs the laminate and generates the winding program — hoop, helical, and transitional patterns, plus custom-defined layers — for Type 4 and Type 5 tanks, tubes, cones, and even non-axisymmetric geometries. Programs execute directly on Mikrosam machines through Winding Commander.
Vessel Modeling, Simulation & FEA Export
Model the geometry, simulate the complete winding pattern before any fiber is placed, and export finished designs to any finite element analysis (FEA) package to verify mechanical properties. Designs can also be imported from common cylinder-design and CAD programs, so existing engineering work carries over.
